Liberty National Life Insurance Company was founded in 1900. We continue to insure generations of families because they know we produce what we promise. Today we are headquartered in McKinney, Texas, and are a member of the Torchmark Corporation (NYSE: TMK) family.
1900
Liberty National's predecessor, a fraternal benefit society, is incorporated in Huntsville, Alabama, on August 31, 1900.
1927
Principal office moves to Birmingham, Alabama and has 26 employees.

1925
The name is changed to Liberty Life Assurance Society.
1929
Incorporates as a stock company and changes its name to Liberty National Life Insurance Company.
1930s
Liberty National reaches $30 million of life insurance in force.
1933
Liberty National pays its first cash dividend.
1934
Frank Park Samford is elected President and CEO.

1940s
During the next few years, Liberty expands to serve the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
1944
Makes its first acquisition, Brown-Service Insurance Company, a marketer of home service insurance with customers and Agents across Alabama.
1950s
Liberty National reaches $500 million of insurance in force.
1958
Liberty National places a 1/5 size replica of the Statue of Liberty atop its Birmingham headquarters and alters the Birmingham skyline forever.

1952
Liberty National begins recording consecutive annual increases in both earnings and dividends that are unmatched by any other member of the New York Stock Exchange.
1960s
Liberty National products become more diversified, most notably with the introduction of an affordable and popular cancer policy and its dramatic expansion of financial services for customers.
1968
Liberty National sells $1 billion in new policies for the first time.
1970s
Liberty National reaches $5 billion of insurance in force.
1979
Liberty National Holding Company is formed.
1975
Liberty National reaches 2,500 Agents.

1980
Reorganization makes Liberty National Holding Company the parent company of Liberty National Life Insurance Company. The holding company purchases Globe Life And Accident Insurance Company.
1983
Liberty National Holding Company becomes known as Torchmark Corporation, the parent company of Liberty National Life Insurance Company.

1981
The holding company acquires United American Insurance Company of Dallas for $138 million and Continental Investment Corporation, which includes Waddell and Reed and United Investors Life Insurance Company.
1990
Liberty National buys Family Service Life Insurance Company.
1998
Family Service Life Insurance Company and Waddell & Reed are spun off.
1990s
Liberty National reaches $35 billion of insurance in force.
1995
Liberty National is named for the first time to Ward's Top 50 Life-Health List and remains on it every year since then.
2008
Liberty National redomiciles from Alabama to Nebraska.
2012
Closer to the Heart, a long-term humanitarian project, is launched by Torchmark Corporation, the holding Company for Liberty National, providing hands-on and financial support to the communities where its associates live, work, and visit.

2014
Closer to the Heart donations reach more than $220,000.
2016
Liberty National announces new partnership with Roush Fenway Racing for 2017.
